SASSA R350 identity verification failed 2022

What To Do About ‘Identity Verification Failed’ SRD Status

The Department of Social Development (DSD) has announced that some Covid-19 SRD grant applications received an ‘Identity Verification Failed’ status, here is what it means.

Before the South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) approves Covid-19 SRD grant applications, the applicant’s details are verified with the Department of Home Affairs.

If the applicant receives an ‘Identity Verification Failed’ status it means that Sassa found that the applicant’s details did not match with the Department of Home Affairs data.

The agency processes applicants’ details through several different databases when considering their applications. First, the applicant’s name, surname and ID number are ran through the Department of Home Affairs.

Those who wish to have their application reconsidered as they believe that they were unfairly declined, may appeal the decision. Sassa will then need to reconsider the Covid-19 SRD grant application.

The appeal needs to be lodged on the Sassa website within 30 days of when they received a rejection status.

How to appeal for an SRD grant:

Go to srd.dsd.gov.za

Enter ID number

Enter telephone number

Lodge appeal

An appeal should be lodged for every month that the grant is declined.
