DART Nauli mpya Mabasi ya mwendo kasi 2022. The Dar es Salaam Rapid Transit Agency (DART) has proposed an integrated fare for TZS 1,500 from the current TZS 800.DART has made the proposal at a time when the Land Transport Regulatory Authority (LATRA) hopes to make a change in fares for these fast-moving buses.

According to a LATRA statement, they have convened a stakeholder meeting to comment on the bus fare after receiving a request to return the bus fares to the Dar es Salaam region from DART.

In its proposal DART wants the main routes for passengers currently charged TZS 650 to be increased to TZS 1,200 and for routes currently charged TZS 400 to go up to TZS 600.

In terms of integrated routes for which TZS 800 fare, DART has recommended that passengers be charged TZS 1,500 and for students who are charged TZS 200 it is recommended that they pay TZS 300.

In addition the government has stated that it plans to install internet (Wi-Fi) and air conditioning in high-speed buses with the aim of promoting competition and providing modern services.

This was stated by the Deputy Permanent Secretary in the Office of the President, Regional Administration and Local Government (PMO-RALG), Dr. Charles Msonde yesterday while opening a session that brought together land transport stakeholders in the country, with the aim of discussing new fares for high-speed buses.

Dr. Msonde said, the Government through DART has developed various strategies to improve transport services for users of different groups including improving transport services for students, people with special needs and mothers.

“I have been informed that DART aims to make major improvements in the short term to promote competition and the provision of modern services. “DART is going to set up air-conditioned buses as well as start using the ICT system in fare collection and internet access on our buses,” he said.

In addition, he said the views of transport stakeholders are important in the planning of new high-speed bus fares, and the Land Transport Regulatory Authority (LATRA) continues to receive comments within seven days.
